Friday Field Trip to Fifth Grade

Last week, Mrs. Johnson started something we call "Friday Field Trips." Mrs. Land invited us to her room to show off her Uncle Jed and Sarah Jean creations for our exhibit at the Mississippi Museum of Art. After that, Mrs. Johnson asked what we thought about field trips on Fridays around the school. We made a list of the places we'd like to visit or know more about. This Friday, we took a trip to a Ms. Blaylock's fifth grade classroom. This was a great chance to get a taste of fifth grade next year.

Ms. Blaylock's class was playing a game to prepare them for the MCT2. Mrs. Johnson quietly led us into the room. Most of us sat on the carpet, and a few were able to sit at desks. Ms. Blaylock went over the rules with us and showed us the prizes that the fifth graders were trying to earn.

We worked along with the fifth graders! Ms. Blaylock gave everyone time to work through certain problems. She had them displayed on the overhead so that we could go along. We even got a few right! Mrs. Johnson was proud!

When all groups had their answers ready, they moved to the place in the room where their letter answer was located. Then, they told the skill that question was asking about, the answer, and the justification. They earned a point for each part done correctly.

We really enjoyed visiting Ms. Blaylock's class. We learned a lot, and we got even more excited about fifth grade! Thank you, Ms. Blaylock for allowing us to visit!
