October PTA Program

Our music teacher, Mrs. Williams, went above and beyond with this month's PTA program. It was fantastic, outstanding, wonderful, excellent, and any other synonyms that fit here! There was a huge crowd in attendance as our first ever show choir, second graders, and third graders performed with precision! Mrs. Johnson's husband was even in attendance, and OF COURSE he brought her an even bigger camera! If you weren't able to attend last Friday, don't worry! Mrs. Johnson even caught a few moments on video.

The night began with a welcome from Dr. Bowen. She also did some "infomercials" in between student changes. This is when she sneaked in the fact that we were getting report cards on Tuesday. Thanks a lot! Ha!

We also received a nice welcome and "How's everybody doing tonight?" from our incredible PTA president. His welcome was extremely short and to the point.

Then, it was SHOW TIME!!! Mrs. Williams has added our first ever show choir. Mrs. Johnson's class has a few choir members. They performed superbly! Mrs. Johnson said she could have listened and watched them ALL night. The show choir performed a few songs, one of which was a classic from Grease.

"We go together like rama lama lama ke ding a de dinga a dong..."

"Chang chang chang-it-ty chang shoo-bop"

Mrs. Williams was such fun to watch as she directed these very talented performers!

"Wha oooh yeah!"

(Insert Dr. Bowen's infomercial here!)

Don't those pictures just look fabulous! It was great! After the students left the stage, and the second and third graders came on stage, it was time for the rest of the show. The second and third grade students were amazing! Mrs. Williams only sees each group for one hour PER WEEK! Can you believe that? And, they were able to put on a performance like this?! Mrs. Johnson was smiling ear to ear the entire time. At least, that's what we saw when she took her camera down from her eye every once in a while! Ha!

The theme for the program was "The Music's In Me." Mrs. Williams told the audience all the different ways these students use music. Of course, we use music to sing! But, people also use their hands to communicate through music. Just watch this video of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight."

"The Lion Sleeps Tonight"

The narrator did a wonderful job of tying the songs in to the theme of the night!

Next, Mrs. Williams told everyone that if there is anything we love more than singing....it's dancing! So, the second and third graders performed some classic dances from the past.

Here's a video of the students performing The Hustle!

And, the Boot Scootin' Boogie!

By the end of the show it was obvious to all around that the music's in these students! In fact, the music was in everyone who attended! Especially after this finale! Take a look!

"The Music's in Me!"

We are so proud of Jendaya and Nadia for their outstanding performance in their first show choir performance. We look forward to many more to come! Great job, girls!

And, a very special thank you and congratulations to Mrs. Williams on such an incredible show! You're the best!
