Fourth Grade Summer Reading

Welcome back! I am so excited about all the wonderfully challenging things we have planned for this year! Our first item of business is Summer Reading. I absolutely love the fourth grade selections chosen for you all! The district asks you to read at least THREE of the following summer reading books. There are two mandatory books, and the last is a book of your choosing. I know you all had a hard time choosing. Maybe you can read them all by the end of the year!

Talk About a Family by Eloise Greenfield
Everyone is required to read and take an AR quiz on this book.

Charlotte's Web by E.B. White
This is one of my favorites! Everyone is required to read this book as well. Your upcoming Anchor Writing assignment will be based on Charlotte's Web.

Of the remaining books, you may use one of your choosing to complete a performance-based project or activity.

Wayside School is Falling Down by Louis Sachar

The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary

Pink and Say by Patricia Polacco

The Kid in the Red Jacket by Barbara Park

This year, I plan to expose you to a variety of quality literature! I hope you will get a head start on the year by reading three of these books. Enjoy!
